Week of August 20th 2018

Thank you so much for another great week at Thomas Jefferson.  THANK YOU for those who were able to attend Back to School Night.  If you were not able to attend please check your child's Friday Red Folder for your packet.

Mrs. ACke's Back to School Night Message

It has been wonderful watching our Stars complete the first full week of school.  Our staff has been working hard teaching our school-wide expectations and learning about our R.I.S.E. Expectations.  Our staff has also been introducing The Zones of Regulation Curriculum to all Stars on campus.  Thomas Jefferson will be teaching and implementing The Zones of Regulation © curriculum (or “The Zones” for short) school-wide. Your child will be participating in lessons and activities to help him/her to gain skills in the area of self-regulation.
The goals of The Zones of Regulation curriculum are for students to learn:
  • How to recognize emotions in themselves and others
  • About triggers which cause them to move between Zones
  • Strategies to assist in moving between the different Zones
  • Problem-solving strategies
You can support your child in learning The Zones by:
  • Talking about The Zones – how you feel and how you see them feeling
  • Talking about “expected” and “unexpected” emotions
  • Share with your child how his or her behavior is affecting the zone you are in and how you feel
For more information about The Zones, please contact your child’s classroom teacher.

It is a great day to be a TJ Star!
