SOLAR ECSLIPSE

Eclipse 2017--

As you are likely aware, on Monday the 21st we are experiencing a partial solar eclipse during school hours.  We are excited about the educational opportunity that we are able to provide with our students, and also are aware of the safety issues that surround exposure to the sun. Our staff is aware of the safety procedures and we will also be reviewing safety procedures with all students in a school wide assembly. We also have glasses for every TK-5th grade student on campus. Student safety is our first priority! Each grade level has planned grade level appropriate activities for their students which may include a brief viewing. Recess during the morning will be held inside, and the eclipse will be over before our lunch times begin. If you have questions about what your child's class will be doing that day, please contact your child's teacher directly. In Roseville, the maximum viewing time is at 10:17 am, so some classes may be outside briefly before and after that but will not be doing any prolonged viewing. Students in all grades will be well supervised all day, and I have also provided teachers with resources for experiencing the eclipse from inside their classrooms. There are so many great online resources available.

If you are volunteering for this events please try to bring protective eyewear, as we only have a limited amount of extras on hand.

Here are some eclipse resources for you to use as you prepare for the eclipse and for dinner conversations!

Please join us at Back to School Night!  Your child's teacher will review the classroom expectations and instructional programs.  This is also an awesome opportunity to sign up for volunteer activities, set up an lunch account and join our PTC.

NEW ARRIVAL SECURITY PROCEDURES BEGIN TOMORROW

MONDAY, AUGUST 21, 2017

Beginning tomorrow Monday, August 21, 2017 only students will be permitted to enter the campus at the first bell, this mean no adults past entry gates. This change in past practice is to ensure that we have a clear understanding of who is on campus.  Adults who are volunteering on campus MUST come to the office and sign in after the second bell has rung.  While we understand that this may be inconvenient it will allow the office to complete their morning business and allow morning supervision and arrival of students to be supervised by school staff.  We appreciate your understanding in the implementation of this new practice.  Please know that is decision has been made with the safety of all students in mind.
