January 6, 2020

Happy New Year TJ Stars! I hope you all had a wonderful winter break filled with rest, relaxation, family and fun!   The beginning of the new year and decade for that matter always makes me think and reflect on what was and what will be.  This reflection takes me to the many layers of my life;  layer such as personal, professional, wellness and balance. While reflecting on these layers I am have been brought back to the importance of FOCUS.  Each one of these layers needs my focus so that I can be a well-rounded person.   Last year I shared that my word for the year was clarity.  I would still say that this word is a focus for me but after much thought, I have chosen my word for the year and that word is PAUSE.  I need to pause to think, reflect and savor moments in my life and the lives of others.  When we take a PAUSE...possibilities to arise.

I look forward to the remaining few months of our academic year and know and pausing for a moment to savor all the GOOD things that are happening at Thomas Jefferson.  I also commit to take a pause to work collaboratively for the greater good of our site and community.

Happy New Year,
Kirsten Acke

New School Site Visitor Management System

The Roseville City School District is pleased to announce that we will begin using a visitor management system in all of our school buildings in January 2020 when school opens after Winter Break.
The system will better allow us to track visitors, contractors, and volunteers in our schools and provide us with a safer, more monitored environment for our students and staff.

Here is what you can expect when you visit any of our schools in January. Visitors will be asked to present a valid state-issued ID, which will be scanned into the system. Upon reading the information, the Raptor Visitor Management System will check the national database to identify sexual offenders. Once entry is approved, the Raptor system will issue a badge that identifies the visitor, the date, and the purpose of his/her visit.

It is a new year and what better way to celebrate than to volunteer at school.  Our Watch DOGs program needs YOU!

Watch D.O.G.S. is an innovative program being used by schools across America which helps them to be positively impacted by the committed involvement of fathers and father-figures in their student’s life. Our goal is to have you spend at least one day this year at the school to be a positive role model and to provide an extra set of hands to help us reach our goals of supporting each and every child.

Dads, granddads, uncles, step-dads and adult brothers, even moms (we are inclusive of everyone)…this is your chance to have a night out alone with your student in a fun atmosphere at school. You may pick up a volunteer packet in the office if you would like to volunteer to be a part of this amazing program. To sign up for a day of Watch DOG fun please sign up below:
