Thomas Jefferson Family Blog 1-18-18

Principal Ponderings and Thoughts:

As a school site we often talk about the RISE expectations with our students. We talk about how each RISING STAR should shoe Respect, demonstrate Integrity, be Safe and be Engaged.  I also strive to embrace this notion daily as an adult.  With that being said I am humbly asking that we are a school community RISE on a daily basis during our arrival and dismissal times.  I have noted on several occasions that some are not following the loop procedures of remaining in a single line for drop off and pick up and some are using the bus loop for drop off.  Please not for the safety of ALL of our stars please only use the upper and lower loops for drop off and remain in a single file line for student pick up and drop off.  I am aware that this can be time consuming, but when it comes to the safety of our students I think it is well worth the time.

In addition PLEASE USE THE CROSSWALKS.  If you are parking across the street and walking to campus to pick up your child.  Please make the way down the the crosswalk and cross the street on the crosswalk.  We have recently seen students running across the street to cars without supervision and parents cross in the middle of the street with children in tow.  We need to set the expectations and be the models of the behavior we wish to see in our students.

Please slow down, savor the moments and RISE in the best interest and safety of all of our STARS.

Thank you,
Kirsten Acke
