CHiP's for Kids Toy Drive here at TJ!

Our school is teaming with KCRA news to participate in the CHiP's for Kids toy drive. Please bring a new and unwrapped toy by Dec.14th to school and help make another child's Christmas bright! There is a collection bin in the office or you can give it to your teacher to turn in. Thank you! #TJStarsgiveback

Holiday Caroling Event

Please join us for a very special evening of holiday cheer and the TJ community!  We will be hosting our annual Thomas Jefferson Holiday Caroling Under the Stars event on Wednesday, December 20, 2016 at 6:00 pm.  The door will open at 5:30 for families to get comfortable at their assigned area.   There will be a wonderful addition to the event, our AMAZING 4th and 5th grade Ensemble group will be preforming in the MPR at 5:30.

WATCH D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students) ,  is a K-12 program, invites fathers, grandfathers, uncles, or other father figures to volunteer at least one full day at their child’s/student’s school during the school year. Individuals sign up at a ‘Launch Event’ such as a “Dads and Kids Pizza Night” or “Donuts with Dad” or in the office at any time throughout the school year. The program is overseen by a “Top Dog” volunteer who partners with the school administrator to coordinate scheduling and identify opportunities for WatchDOGS to provide assistance at the school. WatchDOGS volunteers perform a variety of tasks during their volunteer day including monitoring the school entrance, assisting with unloading and loading of buses and cars, monitoring the lunch room, or helping in the classroom with a teacher’s guidance by working with small groups of students on homework, flashcards, or spelling.

Our Top Dog is Grant McClain our Co PTC president.  We look forward to seeing Dad's and their kiddos at an information Pizza night on Wednesday, November  14 at 6:00 PM in the MPR.

Volunteer Fingerprinting & TB Clearance

The new volunteer process started on December 1st.  ALL volunteers must be fingerprinted and have TB clearance in order to volunteer in the classrooms and events or go on field trips.  A regular volunteer is considered a Category II volunteer.  Anyone that attends events like Character Assemblies or class parties must have a Category I Application.  This process is in place for student safety.  If you have any questions  or if you have already completed your fingerprinting screening and have not heard about fingerprinting clearance please feel free to call or contact our office.
