WELCOME BACK TO SCHOOL

Welcome back Thomas Jefferson Stars and families,
I hope you have had a wonderful summer!  As we count down the days to the start of school, we would like to welcome our new students and our returning students! It is so exciting to welcome you all to another year of RISING STARS!  All teachers and support staff have spent hours preparing materials, creating child-centered classrooms, and reviewing data. The rooms are beginning to look amazing! Secretaries and office staff have registered new students, put together information packets to be sent home with all students, and organized new materials.  Additionally, I would like to offer my sincere thanks and appreciation to our custodial staff. They worked diligently throughout the summer to clean and ready the school. Many facility updates from painting the school to technological took place and are continuing to happen as we speak!
New Staff
Each year brings positive change. This includes a few additions to our staff.  We are excited to welcome two new teachers to our Thomas Jefferson Family.

·                 Kristy Fritz is our new Administrative Secretary.

·                 Rolly Delfin will be joining the TJ family and is our new Resource Specialist.

·                 Sarah Petersen is our new second and third grade Special Day Class Teacher.

·                 Miss. Bingle, Mrs. Cartwright, Mrs. Gorji, Mrs.Hine, Mrs. Jones, and Mrs. Plageman have accepted new Instructional Assistant positions at Thomas Jefferson.

We are so happy to have our new staff joining us!  They bring new ideas and energy to our already amazing staff!

Meal Duty Supervisors NEEDED!

Thomas Jefferson is looking for meal duty supervisors!  Meal duty Supervisors support and supervise students during the lunch hour.  The role of a MDS is a wonderful way to be a part of the TJ community.  If you like working with children and are interested in this opportunity please apply on EDJoin or contact our office for details.

Student Placemen

A great deal of time, effort, and thought has gone into the process of student placement for the 2018-2019 school year.

Careful consideration was given to input from staff and families as well as student learning styles. Classrooms have been balanced academically and socially. Our class lists are structured to provide equitable class sizes at each grade level.  Moving students is difficult without causing imbalances and inequities. Thank you so much for being positive with your child and helping him or her understand that it is impossible to place all students with a preferred best friend or teacher. All of our staff works hard to make school a positive experience for all students.  Thomas Jefferson is eagerly looking forward to enriching your child’s life. Thank you for understanding that it can take a few weeks for a child to acclimate to a new grade, peer group, and teacher.

Thank you to all who are helping prepare for the new school year. I eagerly look forward to greeting students and families again. It remains an honor and privilege to serve as your principal.  Please stop by and say hello. Together, I know we will make this school year one of growth and achievement for all children.

Have a great last few days of summer and see you soon!
